Creepy me

Creepy me

I completed the second round of my 365 Photo Project. It went so smoothly that I hardly noticed. Except one day when I forgot to take a photo because I was busy at a conference – fortunately I made an unwanted snap of a chair instead of the speaker, which I then shamefully posted and pretended it was my artistic intention.

Rest assured and in peace that I’m not going to do the same routine again (at the moment) because what’s the point when I’ve proved, twice, that I can. Why I should probably not repeat the project again (ever) is the sheer blandness of my snaps – it’s just coffee, cats, yoga and the obligatory shoe selfie. Here’s a selection:

Coffee

Cat

Yoga

Shoe Selfie

  1. You did good! Congrats!

I tried this twice, and failed miserably. Both times were before I had a smartphone, so it was the “real” camera that had to come into play. I did it in Facebook, I was new to photography, got some acid comments, and that was it. I have since removed the nastiest commenters. Okay, my photos weren’t worthy of any awards or National Geographic, but WTF?!

I felt so bad so I just wanted to crawl underneath the proverbial rock …

    1. WTF?!! I consider myself a mean person but posting mean comments is a whole new level of meanness. No surprise that you should give up.

Amy is doing the same project with an actual camera, and I’m in awe of her. Her photos are amazing too.

      1. Yes, and these are people who probably consider themselves semi-professional. Okay, they’re really good, and probably know the ins and outs of the camera fully, but still. One of them I had a REAL falling-out with later, over a different matter (smoking!!!), so we don’t even say hi, if we were to meet in town 🙂

        1. Oh dear… There’s no excuse for uninvited criticism though, especially nasty criticism. Isn’t it just easier to ignore something you don’t like and let it be…?

          1. Yeah, that’s what I do … Anyway, I’m no longer part of that group. This was 2010.

  2. The WP Community is so unlike those who frequent YouTube – so many haters. I used to love YT but gave up on it because of the haters and because greedy Google polluted it with four billion ads. And removed your ability to customize your pages. But rude comments are not acceptable on WP, hope the community can always stay this way.

    1. I share your opinion that WP community is something unique. I never saw a place online with more engagement and more respect towards other people. So whatever WP’s glitches, I’ll still stick around.

    1. Thanks a lot! I’ll focus now on my Hate the Least 365 project, and then I’ll see. I might just take a break from challenges and challenge myself by not challenging myself 😉

      1. Ha ha ha! Very postmodern. Thinking about it though, I think I would find it exceedingly challenge to not have a challenge on the go. You could be on to something.

        1. Exactly! It’s a challenge not to have a challenge running. I’m safe till the end of the year though.

  4. Twice is a pretty big achievement and I must find the time to look through them for purely selfish reasons as you know. What I like about your photos is you do explore the everyday world you live in and for most of us what you depict is like our lives as well. The spectacular is rare I think, sleeping cats and shoes are more the norm……

    1. You are right. The spectacular is rare in the day-to-day existence. I wonder what the selfish reaons for pursuing a blog might be? Sounds as a nice thing to do rather than a selfish thing.

      1. Selfish in that I need images for my prompt and your images will maybe help me in that respect….

  5. this is awesome, Mara 🙂 so when do you start round 3? 🙂
in my third attempt for a photo a day, I never made it past the first month, which was a record for me lol 🙂

    1. Haha, I’m not going round three anytime soon. I don’t think it’s that exciting for readers, and I’ve proved to myself that I can do it,which was the major point of it 🙂 I don’t think you should feel obliged to try your own 365 if you’re not really up to it. Whatever, you can blog about other things, which you do, and which you do excellently.
