Weekly Photo Challenge: Twinkle

This photo hurts my eyes: not the least because of the presence ofย twinkle required by WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge. Do the colours make your eyes die a little too or do you like things colourful?

  1. That much color and detail is overwhelming for me — but appropriate for the subject. I’m intrigued by the violinist on the carousel.

    1. It is overwhelming for me too. But I couldn’t help trying to capture the subject anyway and see what comes out of it! The violinist is probably meant to be an itinerant gypsy, which is folklore in these parts of the world.

      1. Sometimes I think my blog posts are like this photo: too overwhelming with words, photos, quotes.

I was thinking of The Red Violin when I saw that violinist — I remember at least a scene or two with gypsy violinists.

        1. That is a very interesting comparison, of the carousel and your blog. I don’t think it’s quite the same, the carousel is just wild and obscene, but your blog is more eclectic and more natural. The carousel is only artifice. Your blog is a well-rounded human effort. If that makes any sense ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Too much colour can be overwhelming – but this photo is very evocative. I can hear the music just by looking. Excellent!

Is it a permanent on or a seasonal visitor?

    1. Oh yes, the music, the music was awful. As could be expected of this kind of attraction. Fortunately, the mess will be going away after the season. I’m not a huge fan…

    1. If I knew that my artistic rendering would make people sick, I wouldn’t have posted that… Sorry! Hope you’ll recover during the weekend! And yes, the pingbacks are an annoyance. It’s been lasting for quite some time too…

      1. If the pingback-less situation continues too long, we all may be tipsy from dipping into the holiday cheer, Mara! I have already recovered and am back to what passes for normal for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I know! It was the craziest thing ever. It was placed in the square as part of the Christmas nonsense and emitting awful noises and lights. I was morbidly attracted to it. I noticed there were even some kids spinning around. In this cold. My eyes were twinkling with evil twinkles as I was shooting the merry-go-round.

  3. I think it’s less the skewed perspective (which I think is a great choice) and more how busy the subject is that makes it a disorienting image. I think it’s successful because of that though because a fairground carousel ought to convey dizziness.

    1. You are far too good to me. Thank you very much. You described perfectly what I couldn’t quite pin down… Have a great weekend though and no dizziness! (And no open fliers ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

  4. I like it!!! Interesting possible fact about carousels…they go a different way round in the UK than in Spain, as observed by my parents when they were here!

        1. That is actually what I imagined. But still it is hard to grasp for me. Because then the horses and cars and whatever things are going around on the carousel would have to face the other direction too, no? I’m confused. Let’s just classify this as mystery…
