Photo 101: My Recent Photoblog Discoveries

WordPress Photo 101 challenge is done with, but not so much the beautiful photoblogs I came across when participating. While I risk that I’ll get my camera thrown at my head for not mentioning everyone, I’ll hazard to commend to your attention a few of my new favourite photobloggers.

  • Andy Townend’s Belgianstreets and Belgradestreets have city life photos that will draw you in with their atmosphere.
  • Rebekah McNulty’s Coldweather blog features clean and crisp Canadian nature and wildlife photos.
  • Albert’s Passionately Curious photofolio showcases the work of a newbie blogger who deserves your support.
  • Amy Sampson’s Playing with My First DSLR Camera is miles from being as amateurish as her modest blog title suggests.
  • Nalinki’s Angle and Views presents not only a great talent but also huge versatility.

Those whom I omitted, kill me now. Or enjoy the blogs that I listed here, based on my selfish taste and erratic memory.

  1. Thank you, Mara, for the mentioning. I feel very honoured.

When I posted, this morning, to Photo101, I wasn’t even aware of it was the last assignment, but when I realised I thought «Triumph» was very appropriate! We made it through 🙂

    1. No problem, I’m glad that I discovered your beautiful blog! You didn’t realise Black Friday is the last day of Photo 101? I got in the routine of posting a photo a day easily, but I was so curious what the last prompt would be that I stayed up late to check it out as soon as it was posted 😉 And yay, we made it!!

        1. Now Black Friday here, but I’m here Britain suffers heavily from the madness. I wouldn’t know. We got neither black fridays nor thanksgiving. We’re not thankful because we don’t get black friday discounts. Ha.

          1. I can see, partly, why the businesses do it here, in Canada — especially in the border communities. All the people would go to the States and do their shopping. We’re only one hour’s drive from the American border.

          2. Oh, that makes perfect sense, now that you explain it. Sure. I don’t think Black Friday is held anywhere in Europe except by large online sellers and in Britain. It’s probably a nice idea to start with, but I couldn’t bear the crowds. *shrugs*

          3. I checked out Sweden. They’re always quick to adopt American things, and just as I suspected, it’s growing big there now too. Not as in the U.K. [yet] but…

          4. Spent some time in Stockholm this last Fall. When you walk around downtown there, it’s hard to get any sense of that you’re not in an English-speaking country … judging from storefronts, and what your hear around you..

  2. Oh…wow, thank you Mara! Certainly did not imagine this….I was going to comment earlier but I was out and my mobile stopped working, it was just not used to so much love and affection coming in 😉

I feel I should make an “acceptance” speech, thanking you on behalf of all those other bloggers …this has been a great few weeks and I look forward to seeing more of your work!

    Thank you…again 🙂

    1. Uhm, knock knock, who’s there? You comment came out anonymous, so I guess I should guess? Haha 😀 In any case, the pleasure was entirely mine and I shall write more when you reveal yourself 😉 !

  3. Woahhhh 😮 i’m super duper honoured. Thank you so much Mara *super hug* i don’t know what to say.
As a kind gesture, call me Albert 🙂 it’ll get rid of the difficulty in referring to my blog by it’s name, nty6x lol.

    1. Ah, Albert, nice to meet you then! I’m honoured now myself… *blushes* I took the liberty of putting your first name in the post, it really did look awkward to have a mess of letters instead of your name when referring to you 😉 Looking forward to keeping in touch with you, classmate!

      1. figured! hahaha. So I thought, may as well reveal my name, after your very kind gesture 🙂 ‘fraid i’m going to have to steal your idea for my wrap-up post later this weekend! *runs*

      1. ohhh! well now that you’re profi, you’re raising other people’s eyebrows instead of your own (while awestrucked by the wonders you present to us) 😀

Now that I think about it.. my first few moments peering through the viewfinder of my DSLR is.. my glasses knocking against the screen….. When I finally got used to it, I unconsciously put my face to non-DLSR cameras. totally embarrassing.

        1. Oh dear, what a lovely comment, thank you! You’re too kind. Exactly my experience of using the DSLR for the first time: I too wear glasses, so it was a bit awkward to find out how to do it without harm to the glasses. I hate smudges on the glasses, arg…

    1. Oh dear, I knew it… *ducks* Now, seriously, I was thinking of compiling a list of all my wonderful classmates, but then I thought it would be too overwhelming! But I’m definitely doing this again 🙂

  4. Aww. Thanks so much for the kind words. I’ve been trying to come up with a little wrap-up post myself, but I was only planning on doing mine on Sunday (because I’m actually doing a post a day for the entire month). I have no idea what I will say, but I’m sure it won’t be as great as this. Now that this thing is over and I’m not spending all my free time in search of the assigned photo of the day, I will have more time properly explore all the great new blogs I’ve found.

    1. You’re welcome, it’s been my pleasure to stumble on your lovely blog! You’re planning a wrap-up post? Great! I’m looking forward to it! This little link assembly of mine isn’t much of a wrap-up, I don’t think I’d have the energy and creativity to make something proper, so I just decided to share the photo love 😉 No great pain in doing that. Have a great weekend and get some rest after the November post-a-day / photo-a-day rollercoaster!

  5. woohho now is this a bit of a cheat because well I am guessing the ‘other half’ took this…grins unless you have those extendeable arms we spoke of a while back. Seriously anyway its a lovely photo and woohoo i get to see a bit more of you ‘and’ in action so to speak! No smut please x

    1. Haha, well, I never claimed I took this photo of myself, so it’s no cheating… Though I’d love to have octopus arms. Yep, the husband took it, he’s as creepy as that 🙂 But I like it because at least I have some photos for the blog which show me but don’t show me at the same time, hehe.

    1. Awe, sorry 😦 Actually, I’m not really sorry for not knowing how you could throw things from there to here at my head… It was a hard choice and I only chose blogs I newly discovered, whereas ours is a long-standing blogging affair 😉

  6. Hi Mara, thank you so much for listing my blog here. It is such an honor! I just came across it, while enjoying a tea on the couch reading through all posts of the blogs i follow and have missed while travelling the last couple of days. What a pleasant surprise! I am so glad we joined photo101 at the same time 🙂
