Weekly Photo Challenge: Monument

Weekly Photo Challenge: Monument

I find this monument — the splintered massive trunk of a tree shot against the sky — more imposing than many man-made monuments. In response to WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Monument.

  1. Hah that is great, you got it perfectly, well done, that threw me at first, I thought it was a mountain. Darn I looked up the weekly challenge from a post just gone out and it said Boundries LOL, so i have been snapping for that…drat, I have nothing monumental LOL…fab shot x

    1. Thank you for your kind feedback! Yes, it’s not clear what it is, that’s why I wrote it in the caption 🙂 The challenge should have been boundaries? Oh! But the Daily Post is acting weird now that they’re still working on their new design. Pingbacks are not working, for example… Anyway, I would have nothing for Boundaries, so this one was good for me 😉 You’re sure to find something monumental too, I wouldn’t worry about that! Maybe on your holiday?

      1. Hah yes but setting up the post from holiday will be impossible with my iphone having the only thing with a net connection..hehe…Oh well maybe I will just post boundries and confuse everyone LMSO

  2. Thank you, great inspiring blog, i’m so looking forward to start reading and discovering what you write on here.. 🙂

    1. Thank you, you’re too good! I do love your response to the challenge too — it reminds me of my native place, which was a mining town. I’m not sure what exactly that structure of yours is, but it looks like the mining stations that I knew…

  3. A perfect snap! 😀
While I was quickly scrolling down my WordPress reader,I saw this pic with your ‘avatar’ next to it.
I thought it was a huge mountain with some heaps of snow over it! It’s only when I scrolled back that I figured it was a trunk.Superb.

    1. I’m glad that you found me in your Reader! Me and my mountain tree 🙂 Thanks for the compliment, it’s much appreciated! Recently I’ve been experimenting with black&white and I quite like the way it’s turning out. P.S. Remember the other day you encouraged me to do CSS? Well, I did — and I redid my blog entirely in terms of colours and layout (but it’s perhaps too subtle to get noticed). Anyway, thanks for prompting me to try!

      1. Yep! I noticed a while ago!
I think it’s great! The first time,my eyes were a bit ‘disturbed’ with so much red,but now I think it looks really great! I also noticed that the title of your blog is in the center!
Having a big penchant for decorations, maybe I would have changed the font. But that’s solely up to you and your personality! 🙂

And look at what I found today on the dailymail:

I think you might be interested with this article! I like the blue-eyed one best! 🙂

        1. KITTENS!! Poor dears, they’re all so upset! Cats can pull terrific faces!

You’re right about the brightness of the colour I picked: I wanted the colour accent to be red but it was awful on the eye, so I picked this orangeish hue. I realise this might be too much for some people, but on the other hand, I wanted the blog to look more cheerful, so I think I’ll stick with this colour palette for a while.

Are you thinking I could pick more decorative fonts? I’m likely to fiddle with the fonts sooner than with the colours, so I think I’ll take your advice and explore!

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see your weekly photo challenge coming up 😉
