          1. Yep, that’s the thing with those widgets — they do work, kind of, but very often not the way you want it to look. I’ve been trying to solve this problem for ages, but clearly, there’s no solution, except hiring a professional to design your blog, which is not what I’m currently ready to do.

          2. Yes, after some test and trial, I went just for a button and no display of the photos. But I’m changing my blog theme, so I’ll experiment with the widgets some more. The bottom line is, if you see some strange and ugly things happening to my blog these days, be assured that it’s being fixed ๐Ÿ˜‰

          3. I found it! Quote overdose, yay!! The quote by Angela Carter is one that I didn’t know and I find it interesting. She’s such an intense writer! Keep in coming ๐Ÿ˜€ *claps hands*

          4. OK, I think you cannot upload to Flickr more than 200 photos per a single batch, but I’m perfectly convinced that you can upload as many photos as amount to 1 Terabyte, which is more than a common user could actually use up.

          5. Flickered out, hehe, that’s a cool new word! Me too, for the present. I thought I’d close my blog and make my new design a big surprise, but I won’t, so if you want to spy on me while I’m fiddling around, feel free to do so and have a good laugh at me being so clumsy!

  1. WOW!
    Honestly WOW!
I didn’t expect that! I’m speaking about your theme of course.
Everything has become so big and I’m bit lost,to be honest, but I’ll get used to it eventually!
    It’s a great theme! ๐Ÿ™‚
Lol,I am really stunned! This is such a change!

    1. Haha, I know, it’s confusing and I’m still in the process of making changes to the theme right now — I earned some unexpected cash on extra proofreading and extra teaching, so I purchased a custom upgrade ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hope the theme will turn out to be user friendly, if you have any issues, please feel free to let me know! Any suggestions are very welcome. I thought I’d make everything, especially the fonts, bigger so that they would read better, so this is deliberate…

      1. I think the theme is perfect.
Everything is more organized, more modern and more in keeping with your personality and photos! ๐Ÿ™‚

Your ‘header’ is simply perfect. The single ‘branch’ is very minimalist, yet very beautiful. And it’s great that we can find the introduction right on the header itself without having to navigate the menu. You did great on that one. ๐Ÿ™‚

I notice that you’ve upgraded from maraeastern.wordpress.com to maraeastern.com too! I was pretty curious at the advantages one gets when doing so,but could never understand anything. Is it true that you have more liberty with the design of your blog, such as the CSS custom?

        1. Ooh, thank you so much for all the compliments, you’re so kind!

I think I will write a post about my new blog theme to point out some changes — you’ve probably noticed that I set up a static home page, so now when you want to get to the recent posts, you need to click BLOG in the navigation bar instead of just clicking HOME. This might be confusing, but I decided so for the benefit of new readers arriving to the blog for the first time and needing to see right away at what kind of site they are.

I purchased the Premium bundle for 99 USD, which included also a personal domain, as you noticed (you’re very observant!). It includes a lot of features; but I see you have the custom colours and fonts upgrade on your blog, which also includes CSS. If you’re interested in CSS, I think you already have it!

I’d like to learn CSS and I was hoping it would be part of the WordPress Zero to Hero challenge no. 2, which was promised, but no news about this so far.

Now I’ll add some links for you with more info about the WordPress upgrades, in case you’re interested, and if you have any questions that I could help with, just let me know! I’m happy to provide unsolicited advice ๐Ÿ˜‰

          1. A blog looks so much better when the blogger can modify it! I noticed this when I changed the font and the colour, but I still want newer things, such as the numerous designs you can come up with by using the CSS editor.Ha,I also recently spotted a premium them costing a whopping $118!!

I would also like a personal domain and I think I might start saving my money right now! Having an ad-free blog also makes it look more … ”professional”!

Thanks a lot for the links! I ignored so much about these upgrades!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

          2. You’re welcome! I’m much into blogging now and I’ve learned a lot about WordPress in the process, so feel free to ask for tips and tricks any time ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Premium themes are often awfully expensive — and you’re stuck with one theme forever! That’s not what I wanted. But I think you can do a lot with customising a free theme (like mine, which is free).

          3. Whew, looks like some heavy work! I’ve bookmarked the link, thank you a lots for it! It’s intimidating but I’m sure it’s worth the try ๐Ÿ˜‰

          4. I’ve managed to understand it!

I’ve hidden the ‘tags’,and I’ve moved the title and ‘quote’ of my blog more to the center.I’ve also increased their size.I haven’t yet mastered the CSS editor but I’m showing signs of improvement!

          5. Oh my dear! You’re pretty good, do you know that? Your blog is showing major signs of improvement in fact! (Hope it doesn’t sound like your blog needs improvement, it’s rather that I believe improvement is always possible and welcome…) I’m still intimidated by CSS but encouraged by your example — I’ll wait if there’ll be the WP Zero to Hero 2 challenge, the first series motivated and helped me a lot, so I’m waiting to start under guidance. Congrats on your customisations, you rock it! ๐Ÿ˜€
