Day 17: Sardonicism Is Not Dead

Part of series From Scratch to Super(Wo)man: My Take on the Zero-to-Hero Challenge

Today’s task is to return to yesterday’s Daily Prompt Challenge as a reader and commenter. An alternative task is to produce a post with advanced formatting elements, such as a block quote or a bullet list. An overachiever and overthinker, I attempted both tasks. An editor and proofreader, I did the formatting task blindfolded to make it look like a challenge.

Browsing through fellow Zero-to-Heroes’ responses to the prompt, I was pleased to find that sardonicism was not dead. This inspired me to the following declaration, possibly of my original making:

Satire is symptom of sanity.

It also inspired in me a desire to write a scathing satire on the following subjects, not necessarily related:

  • conceptual art
  • Harry Potter
  • straight quotation marks

Sadly, writing satires is not required for today, hence I feel no obligation to act on the impulse. I may spend my day more usefully by correcting my doomed students’ straight quotation marks.
